Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, O my soul; to the Gurmukh, the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji is priceless. My mind is pierced by the sublime essence of the Lord, Waheguru Ji’s Name. The Lord, Waheguru Ji is dear to my mind. My mind is washed clean by the sublime essence of the Lord, Waheguru Ji’s Name. Through My Guru Ji’s Teachings, hold the mind steady, O my soul; do not let it wander anywhere. One who chants the Bani of the Praises of the Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji, O Nanak, obtains the fruits of his mind’s desires. || 1 || Through My Guru Ji’s Teachings, the Nectar abides within the mind, O my soul; with your mouth, chants the words of Ambrosia. One Universal Creator God, Waheguru Ji. By The Grace Of The My True Guru Ji:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
हरि हरि नामु धिआईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरमुखि नामु अमोले राम ॥
Har har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai merī jinḏuṛī▫e gurmukẖ nām amole rām.
Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji, Har, Har, O my soul; as Gurmukh, meditate on the invaluable Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਬੀਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਝਕੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
हरि रसि बीधा हरि मनु पिआरा मनु हरि रसि नामि झकोले राम ॥
Har ras bīḏẖā har man pi▫ārā man har ras nām jẖakole rām.
My mind is pierced through by the sublime essence of the Lord, Waheguru Ji's Name. The Lord, Waheguru Ji is dear to my mind. With the sublime essence of the Lord, Waheguru Ji's Name, my mind is washed clean.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
गुरमति मनु ठहराईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अनत न काहू डोले राम ॥
Gurmaṯ man ṯẖėhrā▫ī▫ai merī jinḏuṛī▫e anaṯ na kāhū dole rām.
Under My Guru Ji's Instructions, hold your mind steady; O my soul, do not let it wander anywhere.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
मन चिंदिअड़ा फलु पाइआ हरि प्रभु गुण नानक बाणी बोले राम ॥१॥
Man cẖinḏi▫aṛā fal pā▫i▫ā har parabẖ guṇ Nānak baṇī bole rām. ||1||
One who utters the Bani of the Praises of the Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji, O Nanak, obtains the fruits of his heart's desires. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੁਠੜਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੈਣ ਅਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
गुरमति मनि अम्रितु वुठड़ा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मुखि अम्रित बैण अलाए राम ॥
Gurmaṯ man amriṯ vuṯẖ▫ṛā merī jinḏuṛī▫e mukẖ amriṯ baiṇ alā▫e rām.
Under My Guru Ji's Instruction, the Ambrosial Name abides within the mind, O my soul; with your mouth, utter the words of ambrosia.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
अम्रित बाणी भगत जना की मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मनि सुणीऐ हरि लिव लाए राम ॥
Amriṯ baṇī bẖagaṯ janā kī merī jinḏuṛī▫e man suṇī▫ai har liv lā▫e rām.
The Words of the devotees are Ambrosial Nectar, O my soul; hearing them in the mind, embrace loving affection for the Lord, Waheguru Ji.
ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
चिरी विछुंना हरि प्रभु पाइआ गलि मिलिआ सहजि सुभाए राम ॥
Cẖirī vicẖẖunnā har parabẖ pā▫i▫ā gal mili▫ā sahj subẖā▫e rām.
Separated for so very long, I have found the Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji; He holds me close in His loving embrace.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
जन नानक मनि अनदु भइआ है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अनहत सबद वजाए राम ॥२॥
Jan Nānak man anaḏ bẖa▫i▫ā hai merī jinḏuṛī▫e anhaṯ sabaḏ vajā▫e rām. ||2||
Servant Nanak's mind is filled with bliss, O my soul; the unstruck sound-current of the Shabad vibrates within. ||2||
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
सखी सहेली मेरीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए कोई हरि प्रभु आणि मिलावै राम ॥
Sakẖī sahelī merī▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ko▫ī har parabẖ āṇ milāvai rām.
If only my friends and companions would come and unite me with my Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji, O my soul.
ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
हउ मनु देवउ तिसु आपणा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि प्रभ की हरि कथा सुणावै राम ॥
Ha▫o man ḏeva▫o ṯis āpṇā merī jinḏuṛī▫e har parabẖ kī har kathā suṇāvai rām.
I offer my mind to the one who recites the sermon of my Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji, O my soul.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
गुरमुखि सदा अराधि हरि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मन चिंदिअड़ा फलु पावै राम ॥
Gurmukẖ saḏā arāḏẖ har merī jinḏuṛī▫e man cẖinḏi▫aṛā fal pāvai rām.
As Gurmukh, ever worship the Lord, Waheguru Ji in adoration, O my soul, and you shall obtain the fruits of your heart's desires.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
नानक भजु हरि सरणागती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए वडभागी नामु धिआवै राम ॥३॥
Nānak bẖaj har sarṇāgaṯī merī jinḏuṛī▫e vadbẖāgī nām ḏẖi▫āvai rām. ||3||
O Nanak, hurry to the Lord, Waheguru Ji's Sanctuary; O my soul, those who meditate on the Lord, Waheguru Ji's Name are very fortunate. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
करि किरपा प्रभ आइ मिलु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरमति नामु परगासे राम ॥
Kar kirpā parabẖ ā▫e mil merī jinḏuṛī▫e gurmaṯ nām pargāse rām.
By His Mercy, God, Waheguru Ji comes to meet us, O my soul; through My Guru Ji's Teachings, He reveals His Name.
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਝੁ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਮਲ ਉਦਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
हउ हरि बाझु उडीणीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ जल बिनु कमल उदासे राम ॥
Ha▫o har bājẖ udīṇī▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e ji▫o jal bin kamal uḏāse rām.
Without the Lord, Waheguru Ji, I am so sad, O my soul - as sad as the lotus without water.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
गुरि पूरै मेलाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि सजणु हरि प्रभु पासे राम ॥
Gur pūrai melā▫i▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e har sajaṇ har parabẖ pāse rām.
My Perfect Guru Ji has united me, O my soul, with the Lord, Waheguru Ji, my best friend, the Lord, Waheguru Ji God, Waheguru Ji.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਦਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਬਿਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥
धनु धनु गुरू हरि दसिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक नामि बिगासे राम ॥४॥१॥
Ḏẖan ḏẖan gurū har ḏasi▫ā merī jinḏuṛī▫e jan Nānak nām bigāse rām. ||4||1||
Blessed, blessed is My Guru Ji, who has shown me the Lord, Waheguru Ji, O my soul; servant Nanak blossoms forth in the Name of the Lord, Waheguru Ji. ||4||1||

ਰਾਗ ਬੇਹਾਗੜਾ, ਘਰ ੧ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ 'ਛੰਤ'।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਬੀਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਝਕੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਮੈਡੀ ਆਤਮਾ! ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ। ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਨਾਮ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਡਲਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਧੋਤਾ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਫ ਸੁਥਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਡਿੱਕੋਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ। ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ-ਯੋਗ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਮੇਵੇ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਿਆਈਐ = ਧਿਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ = ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ। ਅਮੋਲੇ = ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਹ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ। ਰਸਿ = ਰਸ ਵਿਚ, ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ। ਬੀਧਾ = ਵਿੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਝਕੋਲੇ = ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਰਾਈਐ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਨਤ = {अन्यत्र} ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ। ਕਾਹੂ ਅਨਤ = ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ। ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ = ਚਿਤਵਿਆ।੧।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੀ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੁਠੜਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੈਣ ਅਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮੱਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਦ ਉਹ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਰਗੀ ਮਿੱਠੜੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਧੂ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਲੋ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਦੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਛਾਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ। ਵੁਠੜਾ = ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ। ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ। ਬੈਣ = ਬਚਨ, ਸ਼ਬਦ। ਅਲਾਏ = ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਣੀਐ = ਸੁਣਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ = ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ, ਲਿਵ ਲਾ ਕੇ। ਗਲਿ = ਗਲ ਨਾਲ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਸੁਭਾਏ = ਸੁਭਾਇ, ਡੂੰਘੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਅਨਹਤ = {अनाहत = ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਜ ਵਜਾਏ} ਇਕ-ਰਸ, ਲਗਾਤਾਰ।੨।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ (ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ) ਸੁਣਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਚਿਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਵਾਜਾ) ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਜੀਉੜਿਆ! ਮੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥਣ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਜੋਲਣ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਵੇ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਕਥਾ-ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਤੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਪਕੜ ਲੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਕੇਵਲ ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਣਿ = ਲਿਆ ਕੇ। ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਦੇਵਉ = ਦੇਵਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ।੩।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਧਿਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਈ ਰਹੁ। ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਝੁ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਮਲ ਉਦਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਦਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਬਿਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਜੀਉੜਿਆ! ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਐਉ ਨਿਮੋਝੂਣੀ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉੜਿਆ। ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੰਵਲ ਉਦਾਸਹੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਾਲਕ, ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਵੜਿਆ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹਨ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਗੋਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ = ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਇ = ਆ ਕੇ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਆਣਿ' ਅਤੇ 'ਆਇ' ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ}। ਪਰਗਾਸੇ = ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਬਾਝੁ = ਬਿਨਾ। ਉਡੀਣੀਆ = ਉਦਾਸ। ਕਮਲ = ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਪਾਸੇ = ਪਾਸ ਹੀ, ਕੋਲ ਹੀ, ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ। ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ = ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਯੋਗ। ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਬਿਗਾਸੇ = ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਟਹਿਕ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲ। (ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਕੁਮਲਾਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੱਜਣ-ਹਰੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਦੱਸ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧।
