The One who created the whole world, O Siblings of Destiny, is the Almighty Lord, the Cause of causes. He fashioned the soul and the body, O Siblings of Destiny, by His own power. How can He be described? How can He be seen, O Siblings of Destiny? The Creator is One; He is indescribable. Praise the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; through Him, the essence is known. || 1 || O my mind, meditate on the Lord, the Lord God. He blesses His servant with the gift of the Naam; He is the Destroyer of pain and suffering. || Pause || Everything is in His home, O Siblings of Destiny; His warehouse is overflowing with the nine treasures. His worth cannot be estimated, O Siblings of Destiny; He is lofty, inaccessible and infinite. He cherishes all beings and creatures, O Siblings of Destiny; he continually takes care of them. So meet with the Perfect True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and merge in the Word of the Shabad. || 2 || Adoring the feet of the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, doubt and fear are dispelled. Joining the Society of the Saints, cleanse your mind, O Siblings of Destiny, and dwell in the Name of the Lord. The darkness of ignorance shall be dispelled, O Siblings of Destiny, and the lotus of your heart shall blossom forth. By the Guru’s Word, peace wells up, O Siblings of Destiny; all fruits are with the True Guru. || 3 || Give up your sense of mine and yours, O Siblings of Destiny, and become the dust of the feet of all. In each and every heart, God is contained, O Siblings of Destiny; He sees, and hears, and is ever-present with us. On that day when one forgets the Supreme Lord God, O Siblings of Destiny, on that day, one ought to die crying out in pain. He is the all-powerful Cause of Causes, O Siblings of Destiny; he is totally filled with all powers. || 4 || The Love of the Name is the greatest treasure, O Siblings of Destiny; through it, emotional attachment to Maya is dispelled. If it is pleasing to His Will, then He unites us in His Union, O Siblings of Destiny; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in the mind. The heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth, O Siblings of Destiny, and the heart is illumined. The Glory of God has been revealed, O Siblings of Destiny, and the earth and sky have blossomed forth. || 5 || The Perfect Guru has blessed me with contentment, O Siblings of Destiny; day and night, I remain attached to the Lord’s Love. My tongue continually chants the Lord’s Name, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the true taste, and the object of human life. Listening with my ears, I hear and so I live, O Siblings of Destiny; I have obtained the unchanging, unmoving state. That soul,which does not place its faith in the Lord shall burn, O Siblings of Destiny. || 6 || My Lord and Master has so many virtues, O Siblings of Destiny; I am a sacrifice to Him. He nurtures even the most worthless, O Siblings of Destiny, and gives home to the homeless. He gives us nourishment with each and every breath, O Siblings of Destiny; His Name is everlasting. One who meets with the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, does so only by perfect destiny. || 7 || Without Him, I cannot live, even for an instant, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally filled with all powers. With every breath and morsel of food, I will not forget Him, O Siblings of Destiny; I behold Him ever-present. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meet Him, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally pervading and permeating everywhere. Those who do not embrace love for the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, always die crying out in pain. || 8 || Grasping hold of the hem of His robe, O Siblings of Destiny, we are carried across the world-ocean of fear and pain. By His Glance of Grace, He has blessed us, O Siblings of Destiny; He shall be with us until the very end. My mind and body are soothed and calmed, O Siblings of Destiny, nourished by the food of the Naam. Nanak has entered His Sanctuary, O Siblings of Destiny; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. || 9 || 1 ||

Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
सभु जगु जिनहि उपाइआ भाई करण कारण समरथु ॥
Sabẖ jag jinėh upā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī karaṇ kāraṇ samrath.
The One who created the whole world, O Siblings of Destiny, is the Almighty Lord, the Cause of causes.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ॥
जीउ पिंडु जिनि साजिआ भाई दे करि अपणी वथु ॥
Jī▫o pind jin sāji▫ā bẖā▫ī ḏe kar apṇī vath.
He fashioned the soul and the body, O Siblings of Destiny, by His own power.
ਕਿਨਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਕਥੁ ॥
किनि कहीऐ किउ देखीऐ भाई करता एकु अकथु ॥
Kin kahī▫ai ki▫o ḏekẖī▫ai bẖā▫ī karṯā ek akath.
How can He be described? How can He be seen, O Siblings of Destiny? The Creator is One; He is indescribable.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਥੁ ॥੧॥
गुरु गोविंदु सलाहीऐ भाई जिस ते जापै तथु ॥१॥
Gur govinḏ salāhī▫ai bẖā▫ī jis ṯe jāpai ṯath. ||1||
Praise the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; through Him, the essence is known. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
मेरे मन जपीऐ हरि भगवंता ॥
Mere man japī▫ai har bẖagvanṯā.
O my mind, meditate on the Lord, the Lord God.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਾ ਹੰਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नाम दानु देइ जन अपने दूख दरद का हंता ॥ रहाउ ॥
Nām ḏān ḏe▫e jan apne ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ kā hanṯā. Rahā▫o.
He blesses His servant with the gift of the Naam; He is the Destroyer of pain and suffering. ||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
जा कै घरि सभु किछु है भाई नउ निधि भरे भंडार ॥
Jā kai gẖar sabẖ kicẖẖ hai bẖā▫ī na▫o niḏẖ bẖare bẖandār.
Everything is in His home, O Siblings of Destiny; His warehouse is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
तिस की कीमति ना पवै भाई ऊचा अगम अपार ॥
Ŧis kī kīmaṯ nā pavai bẖā▫ī ūcẖā agam apār.
His worth cannot be estimated, O Siblings of Destiny; He is lofty, inaccessible and infinite.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥
जीअ जंत प्रतिपालदा भाई नित नित करदा सार ॥
Jī▫a janṯ parṯipālḏā bẖā▫ī niṯ niṯ karḏā sār.
He cherishes all beings and creatures, O Siblings of Destiny; he continually takes care of them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
सतिगुरु पूरा भेटीऐ भाई सबदि मिलावणहार ॥२॥
Saṯgur pūrā bẖetī▫ai bẖā▫ī sabaḏ milāvaṇhār. ||2||
So meet with the Perfect True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and merge in the Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਸਚੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
सचे चरण सरेवीअहि भाई भ्रमु भउ होवै नासु ॥
Sacẖe cẖaraṇ sarevī▫ah bẖā▫ī bẖaram bẖa▫o hovai nās.
Adoring the feet of the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, doubt and fear are dispelled.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
मिलि संत सभा मनु मांजीऐ भाई हरि कै नामि निवासु ॥
Mil sanṯ sabẖā man māʼnjī▫ai bẖā▫ī har kai nām nivās.
Joining the Society of the Saints, cleanse your mind, O Siblings of Destiny, and dwell in the Name of the Lord.
ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਕਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
मिटै अंधेरा अगिआनता भाई कमल होवै परगासु ॥
Mitai anḏẖerā agi▫ānṯā bẖā▫ī kamal hovai pargās.
The darkness of ignorance shall be dispelled, O Siblings of Destiny, and the lotus of your heart shall blossom forth.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
गुर बचनी सुखु ऊपजै भाई सभि फल सतिगुर पासि ॥३॥
Gur bacẖnī sukẖ ūpjai bẖā▫ī sabẖ fal saṯgur pās. ||3||
By the Guru's Word, peace wells up, O Siblings of Destiny; all fruits are with the True Guru. ||3||
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹੋਈਐ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
मेरा तेरा छोडीऐ भाई होईऐ सभ की धूरि ॥
Merā ṯerā cẖẖodī▫ai bẖā▫ī ho▫ī▫ai sabẖ kī ḏẖūr.
Give up your sense of mine and yours, O Siblings of Destiny, and become the dust of the feet of all.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
घटि घटि ब्रहमु पसारिआ भाई पेखै सुणै हजूरि ॥
Gẖat gẖat barahm pasāri▫ā bẖā▫ī pekẖai suṇai hajūr.
In each and every heart, God is contained, O Siblings of Destiny; He sees, and hears, and is ever-present with us.
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਝੂਰਿ ॥
जितु दिनि विसरै पारब्रहमु भाई तितु दिनि मरीऐ झूरि ॥
Jiṯ ḏin visrai pārbarahm bẖā▫ī ṯiṯ ḏin marī▫ai jẖūr.
On that day when one forgets the Supreme Lord God, O Siblings of Destiny, on that day, one ought to die crying out in pain.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥
करन करावन समरथो भाई सरब कला भरपूरि ॥४॥
Karan karāvan samratho bẖā▫ī sarab kalā bẖarpūr. ||4||
He is the all-powerful Cause of Causes, O Siblings of Destiny; he is totally filled with all powers. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
प्रेम पदारथु नामु है भाई माइआ मोह बिनासु ॥
Parem paḏārath nām hai bẖā▫ī mā▫i▫ā moh binās.
The Love of the Name is the greatest treasure, O Siblings of Destiny; through it, emotional attachment to Maya is dispelled.
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
तिसु भावै ता मेलि लए भाई हिरदै नाम निवासु ॥
Ŧis bẖāvai ṯā mel la▫e bẖā▫ī hirḏai nām nivās.
If it is pleasing to His Will, then He unites us in His Union, O Siblings of Destiny; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in the mind.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
गुरमुखि कमलु प्रगासीऐ भाई रिदै होवै परगासु ॥
Gurmukẖ kamal pargāsī▫ai bẖā▫ī riḏai hovai pargās.
The heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth, O Siblings of Destiny, and the heart is illumined.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
प्रगटु भइआ परतापु प्रभ भाई मउलिआ धरति अकासु ॥५॥
Pargat bẖa▫i▫ā parṯāp parabẖ bẖā▫ī ma▫oli▫ā ḏẖaraṯ akās. ||5||
The Glory of God has been revealed, O Siblings of Destiny, and the earth and sky have blossomed forth. ||5||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
गुरि पूरै संतोखिआ भाई अहिनिसि लागा भाउ ॥
Gur pūrai sanṯokẖi▫ā bẖā▫ī ahinis lāgā bẖā▫o.
The Perfect Guru has blessed me with contentment, O Siblings of Destiny; day and night, I remain attached to the Lord's Love.
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
रसना रामु रवै सदा भाई साचा सादु सुआउ ॥
Rasnā rām ravai saḏā bẖā▫ī sācẖā sāḏ su▫ā▫o.
My tongue continually chants the Lord's Name, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the true taste, and the object of human life.
ਕਰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾਉ ॥
करनी सुणि सुणि जीविआ भाई निहचलु पाइआ थाउ ॥
Karnī suṇ suṇ jīvi▫ā bẖā▫ī nihcẖal pā▫i▫ā thā▫o.
Listening with my ears, I hear and so I live, O Siblings of Destiny; I have obtained the unchanging, unmoving state.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
जिसु परतीति न आवई भाई सो जीअड़ा जलि जाउ ॥६॥
Jis parṯīṯ na āvī bẖā▫ī so jī▫aṛā jal jā▫o. ||6||
That soul, which does not place its faith in the Lord shall burn, O Siblings of Destiny. ||6||
ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
बहु गुण मेरे साहिबै भाई हउ तिस कै बलि जाउ ॥
Baho guṇ mere sāhibai bẖā▫ī ha▫o ṯis kai bal jā▫o.
My Lord and Master has so many virtues, O Siblings of Destiny; I am a sacrifice to Him.
ਓਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥
ओहु निरगुणीआरे पालदा भाई देइ निथावे थाउ ॥
Oh nirguṇī▫āre pālḏā bẖā▫ī ḏe▫e nithāve thā▫o.
He nurtures even the most worthless, O Siblings of Destiny, and gives home to the homeless.
ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਭਾਈ ਗੂੜਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
रिजकु स्मबाहे सासि सासि भाई गूड़ा जा का नाउ ॥
Rijak sambāhe sās sās bẖā▫ī gūṛā jā kā nā▫o.
He gives us nourishment with each and every breath, O Siblings of Destiny; His Name is everlasting.
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਾਉ ॥੭॥
जिसु गुरु साचा भेटीऐ भाई पूरा तिसु करमाउ ॥७॥
Jis gur sācẖā bẖetī▫ai bẖā▫ī pūrā ṯis karmā▫o. ||7||
One who meets with the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, does so only by perfect destiny. ||7||

ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
सासि गिरासि न विसरै भाई पेखउ सदा हजूरि ॥
Sās girās na visrai bẖā▫ī pekẖa▫o saḏā hajūr.
With every breath and morsel of food, I will not forget Him, O Siblings of Destiny; I behold Him ever-present.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
साधू संगि मिलाइआ भाई सरब रहिआ भरपूरि ॥
Sāḏẖū sang milā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī sarab rahi▫ā bẖarpūr.

जिना प्रीति न लगीआ भाई से नित नित मरदे झूरि ॥८॥
Jinā parīṯ na lagī▫ā bẖā▫ī se niṯ niṯ marḏe jẖūr. ||8||
Those who do not embrace love for the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, always die crying out in pain. ||8||
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
अंचलि लाइ तराइआ भाई भउजलु दुखु संसारु ॥
Ancẖal lā▫e ṯarā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī bẖa▫ojal ḏukẖ sansār.
Grasping hold of the hem of His robe, O Siblings of Destiny, we are carried across the world-ocean of fear and pain.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
करि किरपा नदरि निहालिआ भाई कीतोनु अंगु अपारु ॥
Kar kirpā naḏar nihāli▫ā bẖā▫ī kīṯon ang apār.
By His Glance of Grace, He has blessed us, O Siblings of Destiny; He shall be with us until the very end.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
मनु तनु सीतलु होइआ भाई भोजनु नाम अधारु ॥
Man ṯan sīṯal ho▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī bẖojan nām aḏẖār.
My mind and body are soothed and calmed, O Siblings of Destiny, nourished by the food of the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੯॥੧॥
नानक तिसु सरणागती भाई जि किलबिख काटणहारु ॥९॥१॥
Nānak ṯis sarṇāgaṯī bẖā▫ī jė kilbikẖ kātaṇhār. ||9||1||
Nanak has entered His Sanctuary, O Siblings of Destiny; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. ||9||1||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ॥ ਕਿਨਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਕਥੁ ॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਥੁ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੈ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੱਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਐਸਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ, ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਘੜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰੀਏ, ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੇਖੀਏ? ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਅਕਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰ-ਤੱਤ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਸਭੁ = ਸਾਰਾ। ਜਿਨਹਿ = ਜਿਨਿ ਹੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਨਿ' ਦੀ 'ਿ' ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਈ ਹੈ}। ਭਾਈ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਰਣ = ਜਗਤ। ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ = ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ। ਸਮਰਥੁ = ਸਭੁ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ। ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਪਿੰਡੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਦੇ ਕਰਿ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਵਥੁ = ਵਸਤ, ਸੱਤਿਆ। ਕਿਨਿ = ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ? ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ? ਕਹੀਐ = ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉ = ਕਿਵੇਂ? ਅਕਥੁ = ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ = ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ। ਜਿਸ ਤੇ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਤੇ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ} ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ। ਜਾਪੈ = ਸਮਝੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਥੁ = ਅਸਲੀਅਤ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ (ਤਾਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਦਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਏ? ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਾ ਹੰਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ। ਦੁੱਖੜੇ ਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੰਤਾ = ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਸਦਾ) ਹਰੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਧਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਤੋਸ਼ੇਖਾਨੇ ਨੌ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਉਹ ਬੁਲੰਦ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ-ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਨਿੱਤਾਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ! ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਣਗੇ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ = ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ। ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ = ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ। ਭੰਡਾਰ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ। ਤਿਸ ਕੀ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਅਗਮ = ਅਪਹੁੰਚ। ਅਪਾਰ = ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ। ਸਾਰ = ਸੰਭਾਲ। ਭੇਟੀਐ = ਲੱਭੀਏ। ਸਬਦਿ = ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਜੋੜ ਕੇ)। ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ = ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਸਚੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਸੁ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਕਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਪੂਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾ! ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ ਸੁਥਰੀ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਨੂੰਗਾ। ਤੇਰਾ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਕੰਵਲ ਖਿੜ ਵੰਞੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ!
ਸਚੇ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ। ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ = ਸੇਵੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਮਿਲਿ = ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਮਾਂਜੀਐ = ਮਾਂਜਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ = ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਗਿਆਨ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ। ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ। ਕਮਲ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ = (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ। ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ) ਡਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ।੩।
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹੋਈਐ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਝੂਰਿ ॥ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੈਂਡੀ ਤੇ ਤੈਡੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਐਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਬੰਦਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ = ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ, ਵਿਤਕਰਾ। ਹੋਈਐ = ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਧੂਰਿ = ਖ਼ਾਕ। ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਘਟ ਵਿਚ। ਹਜੂਰਿ = ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ। ਦਿਨਿ = ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਮਰੀਐ = ਮਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਝੂਰਿ = ਪਛੁਤਾ ਕੇ। ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ = ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਕਲਾ = ਤਾਕਤ।੪।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏ, ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਇਹ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।੪।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਐਕੁਰ ਚਾਹੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦਿਲ-ਕੰਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਪਦਾਰਥੁ = ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ। ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ = ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ। ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ = ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ। ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ। ਰਿਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਿਚ। ਪਰਗਾਸੁ = ਚਾਨਣ। ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਆ = ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਤਾਪੁ = ਤਾਕਤ। ਮਉਲਿਆ = ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ।੫।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਧਰਤੀ ਖਿੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।੫।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸੰਤੋਖ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ੍ਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ-ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਤੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੀਊਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਸਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਧਾਰਦੀ, ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ, ਉਹ ਸੜ ਬਲ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ = ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਹਿ = ਦਿਨ। ਨਿਸਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਭਾਉ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ। ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ (ਨਾਲ)। ਰਵੈ = ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸੁਆਉ = ਸੁਆਰਥ, ਮਨੋਰਥ। ਕਰਨੀ = ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਕਰਨੀਂ। ਜੀਅੜਾ = (ਨਿਭਾਗੀ) ਜਿੰਦ। ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ = ਜਲਿ ਜਾਇ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੬।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਸੁਆਦ (ਇਹ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਅਟੱਲ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ) ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਝਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਨਿਭਾਗੀ) ਜਿੰਦ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।੬।
ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ ਓਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਭਾਈ ਗੂੜਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਾਉ ॥੭॥
ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂਡੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਗੁਣ-ਵਿਹੂਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ-ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਅਤੇ ਬੇਪਨਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਨਾਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਗਾਧ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਪੁਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਭਧਾ।
ਸਾਹਿਬੈ = ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਚ। ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਤਿਸ ਕੈ = ਉਸ ਤੋਂ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕੈ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਬਲਿ = ਸਦਕੇ। ਜਾਉ = ਜਾਉਂ, ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਬਾਹੇ = ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਗੂੜਾ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਭੇਟੀਐ = ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਰਮਾਉ = ਕਿਸਮਤ।੭।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ-ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੭।
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਗੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਮਰਦੇ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੮॥
ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਤੇ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਹਰੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ, ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਝੂਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਨ ਜੀਵੀਐ = ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀ ਸਕੀਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਲਾ = ਤਾਕਤਾਂ। ਸਾਸਿ = (ਹਰੇਕ) ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ। ਪੇਖਉ = ਪੇਖਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹਜੂਰਿ = ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ। ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ। ਮਰਦੇ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਹਨ। ਝੂਰਿ = ਚਿੰਤਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ।੮।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਇਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਦਿੱਸਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੮।
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੯॥੧॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਦਇਆ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਅਖੀਰ ਤਾਈਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੱਖ ਪੂਰੇਗਾ। ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਸ਼ਾਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜੋ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਚਲਿ = ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ, ਲੜ ਨਾਲ। ਭਉਜਲੁ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਕਰਿ = ਕਰ ਕੇ। ਨਦਰਿ = ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ। ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ = ਤੱਕਿਆ। ਕੀਤੋਨੁ = ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੰਗੁ = ਪੱਖ। ਅਪਾਰੁ = ਬੇਅੰਤ। ਸੀਤਲੁ = ਠੰਢਾ। ਅਧਾਰੁ = ਆਸਰਾ। ਕਿਲਬਿਖ = ਪਾਪ। ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ = ਕੱਟ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਜਿ = ਜੇਹੜਾ।੯।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਦੁੱਖ-ਰੂਪ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਭੂ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ (ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ), ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਵੋ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।੯।੧।

How can He be described? How can He be seen, O Siblings of Destiny? The Creator is One; He is indescribable. Praise the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; through Him, the essence is known. || 1 || O my mind, meditate on the Lord, the Lord God. He blesses His servant with the gift of the Naam; He is the Destroyer of pain and suffering. || Pause || Everything is in His home, O Siblings of Destiny; His warehouse is overflowing with the nine treasures. His worth cannot be estimated, O Siblings of Destiny; He is lofty, inaccessible and infinite. He cherishes all beings and creatures, O Siblings of Destiny; he continually takes care of them. So meet with the Perfect True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and merge in the Word of the Shabad. || 2 || Adoring the feet of the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, doubt and fear are dispelled. Joining the Society of the Saints, cleanse your mind, O Siblings of Destiny, and dwell in the Name of the Lord. The darkness of ignorance shall be dispelled, O Siblings of Destiny, and the lotus of your heart shall blossom forth. By the Guru’s Word, peace wells up, O Siblings of Destiny; all fruits are with the True Guru. || 3 || Give up your sense of mine and yours, O Siblings of Destiny, and become the dust of the feet of all. In each and every heart, God is contained, O Siblings of Destiny; He sees, and hears, and is ever-present with us. On that day when one forgets the Supreme Lord God, O Siblings of Destiny, on that day, one ought to die crying out in pain. He is the all-powerful Cause of Causes, O Siblings of Destiny; he is totally filled with all powers. || 4 || The Love of the Name is the greatest treasure, O Siblings of Destiny; through it, emotional attachment to Maya is dispelled. If it is pleasing to His Will, then He unites us in His Union, O Siblings of Destiny; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in the mind. The heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth, O Siblings of Destiny, and the heart is illumined. The Glory of God has been revealed, O Siblings of Destiny, and the earth and sky have blossomed forth. || 5 || The Perfect Guru has blessed me with contentment, O Siblings of Destiny; day and night, I remain attached to the Lord’s Love. My tongue continually chants the Lord’s Name, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the true taste, and the object of human life. Listening with my ears, I hear and so I live, O Siblings of Destiny; I have obtained the unchanging, unmoving state. That soul,which does not place its faith in the Lord shall burn, O Siblings of Destiny. || 6 || My Lord and Master has so many virtues, O Siblings of Destiny; I am a sacrifice to Him. He nurtures even the most worthless, O Siblings of Destiny, and gives home to the homeless. He gives us nourishment with each and every breath, O Siblings of Destiny; His Name is everlasting. One who meets with the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, does so only by perfect destiny. || 7 || Without Him, I cannot live, even for an instant, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally filled with all powers. With every breath and morsel of food, I will not forget Him, O Siblings of Destiny; I behold Him ever-present. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meet Him, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally pervading and permeating everywhere. Those who do not embrace love for the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, always die crying out in pain. || 8 || Grasping hold of the hem of His robe, O Siblings of Destiny, we are carried across the world-ocean of fear and pain. By His Glance of Grace, He has blessed us, O Siblings of Destiny; He shall be with us until the very end. My mind and body are soothed and calmed, O Siblings of Destiny, nourished by the food of the Naam. Nanak has entered His Sanctuary, O Siblings of Destiny; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. || 9 || 1 ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
सभु जगु जिनहि उपाइआ भाई करण कारण समरथु ॥
Sabẖ jag jinėh upā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī karaṇ kāraṇ samrath.
The One who created the whole world, O Siblings of Destiny, is the Almighty Lord, the Cause of causes.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ॥
जीउ पिंडु जिनि साजिआ भाई दे करि अपणी वथु ॥
Jī▫o pind jin sāji▫ā bẖā▫ī ḏe kar apṇī vath.

ਕਿਨਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਕਥੁ ॥
किनि कहीऐ किउ देखीऐ भाई करता एकु अकथु ॥
Kin kahī▫ai ki▫o ḏekẖī▫ai bẖā▫ī karṯā ek akath.
How can He be described? How can He be seen, O Siblings of Destiny? The Creator is One; He is indescribable.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਥੁ ॥੧॥
गुरु गोविंदु सलाहीऐ भाई जिस ते जापै तथु ॥१॥
Gur govinḏ salāhī▫ai bẖā▫ī jis ṯe jāpai ṯath. ||1||
Praise the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; through Him, the essence is known. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
मेरे मन जपीऐ हरि भगवंता ॥
Mere man japī▫ai har bẖagvanṯā.
O my mind, meditate on the Lord, the Lord God.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਾ ਹੰਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नाम दानु देइ जन अपने दूख दरद का हंता ॥ रहाउ ॥
Nām ḏān ḏe▫e jan apne ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ kā hanṯā. Rahā▫o.
He blesses His servant with the gift of the Naam; He is the Destroyer of pain and suffering. ||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
जा कै घरि सभु किछु है भाई नउ निधि भरे भंडार ॥
Jā kai gẖar sabẖ kicẖẖ hai bẖā▫ī na▫o niḏẖ bẖare bẖandār.
Everything is in His home, O Siblings of Destiny; His warehouse is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
तिस की कीमति ना पवै भाई ऊचा अगम अपार ॥
Ŧis kī kīmaṯ nā pavai bẖā▫ī ūcẖā agam apār.
His worth cannot be estimated, O Siblings of Destiny; He is lofty, inaccessible and infinite.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥
जीअ जंत प्रतिपालदा भाई नित नित करदा सार ॥
Jī▫a janṯ parṯipālḏā bẖā▫ī niṯ niṯ karḏā sār.
He cherishes all beings and creatures, O Siblings of Destiny; he continually takes care of them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
सतिगुरु पूरा भेटीऐ भाई सबदि मिलावणहार ॥२॥
Saṯgur pūrā bẖetī▫ai bẖā▫ī sabaḏ milāvaṇhār. ||2||
So meet with the Perfect True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and merge in the Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਸਚੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
सचे चरण सरेवीअहि भाई भ्रमु भउ होवै नासु ॥
Sacẖe cẖaraṇ sarevī▫ah bẖā▫ī bẖaram bẖa▫o hovai nās.
Adoring the feet of the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, doubt and fear are dispelled.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
मिलि संत सभा मनु मांजीऐ भाई हरि कै नामि निवासु ॥
Mil sanṯ sabẖā man māʼnjī▫ai bẖā▫ī har kai nām nivās.
Joining the Society of the Saints, cleanse your mind, O Siblings of Destiny, and dwell in the Name of the Lord.
ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਕਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
मिटै अंधेरा अगिआनता भाई कमल होवै परगासु ॥
Mitai anḏẖerā agi▫ānṯā bẖā▫ī kamal hovai pargās.
The darkness of ignorance shall be dispelled, O Siblings of Destiny, and the lotus of your heart shall blossom forth.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
गुर बचनी सुखु ऊपजै भाई सभि फल सतिगुर पासि ॥३॥
Gur bacẖnī sukẖ ūpjai bẖā▫ī sabẖ fal saṯgur pās. ||3||
By the Guru's Word, peace wells up, O Siblings of Destiny; all fruits are with the True Guru. ||3||
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹੋਈਐ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
मेरा तेरा छोडीऐ भाई होईऐ सभ की धूरि ॥
Merā ṯerā cẖẖodī▫ai bẖā▫ī ho▫ī▫ai sabẖ kī ḏẖūr.
Give up your sense of mine and yours, O Siblings of Destiny, and become the dust of the feet of all.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
घटि घटि ब्रहमु पसारिआ भाई पेखै सुणै हजूरि ॥
Gẖat gẖat barahm pasāri▫ā bẖā▫ī pekẖai suṇai hajūr.
In each and every heart, God is contained, O Siblings of Destiny; He sees, and hears, and is ever-present with us.
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਝੂਰਿ ॥
जितु दिनि विसरै पारब्रहमु भाई तितु दिनि मरीऐ झूरि ॥
Jiṯ ḏin visrai pārbarahm bẖā▫ī ṯiṯ ḏin marī▫ai jẖūr.
On that day when one forgets the Supreme Lord God, O Siblings of Destiny, on that day, one ought to die crying out in pain.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥
करन करावन समरथो भाई सरब कला भरपूरि ॥४॥
Karan karāvan samratho bẖā▫ī sarab kalā bẖarpūr. ||4||
He is the all-powerful Cause of Causes, O Siblings of Destiny; he is totally filled with all powers. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
प्रेम पदारथु नामु है भाई माइआ मोह बिनासु ॥
Parem paḏārath nām hai bẖā▫ī mā▫i▫ā moh binās.
The Love of the Name is the greatest treasure, O Siblings of Destiny; through it, emotional attachment to Maya is dispelled.
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
तिसु भावै ता मेलि लए भाई हिरदै नाम निवासु ॥
Ŧis bẖāvai ṯā mel la▫e bẖā▫ī hirḏai nām nivās.
If it is pleasing to His Will, then He unites us in His Union, O Siblings of Destiny; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in the mind.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
गुरमुखि कमलु प्रगासीऐ भाई रिदै होवै परगासु ॥
Gurmukẖ kamal pargāsī▫ai bẖā▫ī riḏai hovai pargās.
The heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth, O Siblings of Destiny, and the heart is illumined.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
प्रगटु भइआ परतापु प्रभ भाई मउलिआ धरति अकासु ॥५॥
Pargat bẖa▫i▫ā parṯāp parabẖ bẖā▫ī ma▫oli▫ā ḏẖaraṯ akās. ||5||
The Glory of God has been revealed, O Siblings of Destiny, and the earth and sky have blossomed forth. ||5||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
गुरि पूरै संतोखिआ भाई अहिनिसि लागा भाउ ॥
Gur pūrai sanṯokẖi▫ā bẖā▫ī ahinis lāgā bẖā▫o.
The Perfect Guru has blessed me with contentment, O Siblings of Destiny; day and night, I remain attached to the Lord's Love.
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
रसना रामु रवै सदा भाई साचा सादु सुआउ ॥
Rasnā rām ravai saḏā bẖā▫ī sācẖā sāḏ su▫ā▫o.
My tongue continually chants the Lord's Name, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the true taste, and the object of human life.
ਕਰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾਉ ॥
करनी सुणि सुणि जीविआ भाई निहचलु पाइआ थाउ ॥
Karnī suṇ suṇ jīvi▫ā bẖā▫ī nihcẖal pā▫i▫ā thā▫o.
Listening with my ears, I hear and so I live, O Siblings of Destiny; I have obtained the unchanging, unmoving state.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
जिसु परतीति न आवई भाई सो जीअड़ा जलि जाउ ॥६॥
Jis parṯīṯ na āvī bẖā▫ī so jī▫aṛā jal jā▫o. ||6||
That soul, which does not place its faith in the Lord shall burn, O Siblings of Destiny. ||6||
ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
बहु गुण मेरे साहिबै भाई हउ तिस कै बलि जाउ ॥
Baho guṇ mere sāhibai bẖā▫ī ha▫o ṯis kai bal jā▫o.
My Lord and Master has so many virtues, O Siblings of Destiny; I am a sacrifice to Him.
ਓਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥
ओहु निरगुणीआरे पालदा भाई देइ निथावे थाउ ॥
Oh nirguṇī▫āre pālḏā bẖā▫ī ḏe▫e nithāve thā▫o.
He nurtures even the most worthless, O Siblings of Destiny, and gives home to the homeless.
ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਭਾਈ ਗੂੜਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
रिजकु स्मबाहे सासि सासि भाई गूड़ा जा का नाउ ॥
Rijak sambāhe sās sās bẖā▫ī gūṛā jā kā nā▫o.
He gives us nourishment with each and every breath, O Siblings of Destiny; His Name is everlasting.
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਾਉ ॥੭॥
जिसु गुरु साचा भेटीऐ भाई पूरा तिसु करमाउ ॥७॥
Jis gur sācẖā bẖetī▫ai bẖā▫ī pūrā ṯis karmā▫o. ||7||
One who meets with the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, does so only by perfect destiny. ||7||
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
तिसु बिनु घड़ी न जीवीऐ भाई सरब कला भरपूरि ॥
Ŧis bin gẖaṛī na jīvī▫ai bẖā▫ī sarab kalā bẖarpūr.
Without Him, I cannot live, even for an instant, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally filled with all powers.
ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
सासि गिरासि न विसरै भाई पेखउ सदा हजूरि ॥
Sās girās na visrai bẖā▫ī pekẖa▫o saḏā hajūr.
With every breath and morsel of food, I will not forget Him, O Siblings of Destiny; I behold Him ever-present.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
साधू संगि मिलाइआ भाई सरब रहिआ भरपूरि ॥
Sāḏẖū sang milā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī sarab rahi▫ā bẖarpūr.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meet Him, O Siblings of Destiny; He is totally pervading and permeating everywhere.
ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਗੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਮਰਦੇ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੮॥
जिना प्रीति न लगीआ भाई से नित नित मरदे झूरि ॥८॥
Jinā parīṯ na lagī▫ā bẖā▫ī se niṯ niṯ marḏe jẖūr. ||8||
Those who do not embrace love for the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, always die crying out in pain. ||8||
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
अंचलि लाइ तराइआ भाई भउजलु दुखु संसारु ॥
Ancẖal lā▫e ṯarā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī bẖa▫ojal ḏukẖ sansār.
Grasping hold of the hem of His robe, O Siblings of Destiny, we are carried across the world-ocean of fear and pain.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
करि किरपा नदरि निहालिआ भाई कीतोनु अंगु अपारु ॥
Kar kirpā naḏar nihāli▫ā bẖā▫ī kīṯon ang apār.
By His Glance of Grace, He has blessed us, O Siblings of Destiny; He shall be with us until the very end.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
मनु तनु सीतलु होइआ भाई भोजनु नाम अधारु ॥
Man ṯan sīṯal ho▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī bẖojan nām aḏẖār.
My mind and body are soothed and calmed, O Siblings of Destiny, nourished by the food of the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੯॥੧॥
नानक तिसु सरणागती भाई जि किलबिख काटणहारु ॥९॥१॥
Nānak ṯis sarṇāgaṯī bẖā▫ī jė kilbikẖ kātaṇhār. ||9||1||

ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ॥ ਕਿਨਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਕਥੁ ॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਥੁ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੈ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੱਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਐਸਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ, ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਘੜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰੀਏ, ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੇਖੀਏ? ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਅਕਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰ-ਤੱਤ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਸਭੁ = ਸਾਰਾ। ਜਿਨਹਿ = ਜਿਨਿ ਹੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਨਿ' ਦੀ 'ਿ' ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਹੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਈ ਹੈ}। ਭਾਈ = ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਰਣ = ਜਗਤ। ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ = ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ। ਸਮਰਥੁ = ਸਭੁ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ। ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਪਿੰਡੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਦੇ ਕਰਿ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਵਥੁ = ਵਸਤ, ਸੱਤਿਆ। ਕਿਨਿ = ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ? ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ? ਕਹੀਐ = ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉ = ਕਿਵੇਂ? ਅਕਥੁ = ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ = ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ। ਜਿਸ ਤੇ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਜਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਤੇ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ} ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ। ਜਾਪੈ = ਸਮਝੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਥੁ = ਅਸਲੀਅਤ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ (ਤਾਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਦਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਏ? ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਾ ਹੰਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ। ਦੁੱਖੜੇ ਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੰਤਾ = ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਸਦਾ) ਹਰੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਧਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਤੋਸ਼ੇਖਾਨੇ ਨੌ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਉਹ ਬੁਲੰਦ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ-ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਨਿੱਤਾਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ! ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਣਗੇ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ = ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ। ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ = ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ। ਭੰਡਾਰ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ। ਤਿਸ ਕੀ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕੀ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਅਗਮ = ਅਪਹੁੰਚ। ਅਪਾਰ = ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ। ਸਾਰ = ਸੰਭਾਲ। ਭੇਟੀਐ = ਲੱਭੀਏ। ਸਬਦਿ = ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਜੋੜ ਕੇ)। ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ = ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਸਚੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਸੁ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਕਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਪੂਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾ! ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ ਸੁਥਰੀ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਨੂੰਗਾ। ਤੇਰਾ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਕੰਵਲ ਖਿੜ ਵੰਞੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ!
ਸਚੇ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ। ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ = ਸੇਵੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਮਿਲਿ = ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਮਾਂਜੀਐ = ਮਾਂਜਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ = ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਗਿਆਨ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ। ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ। ਕਮਲ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ = (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ। ਸਭਿ = ਸਾਰੇ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ) ਡਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ।੩।
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹੋਈਐ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਝੂਰਿ ॥ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੈਂਡੀ ਤੇ ਤੈਡੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਐਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਬੰਦਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ = ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ, ਵਿਤਕਰਾ। ਹੋਈਐ = ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਧੂਰਿ = ਖ਼ਾਕ। ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਘਟ ਵਿਚ। ਹਜੂਰਿ = ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ। ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ। ਦਿਨਿ = ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ = ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਚ। ਮਰੀਐ = ਮਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਝੂਰਿ = ਪਛੁਤਾ ਕੇ। ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਮਰਥੋ = ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਕਲਾ = ਤਾਕਤ।੪।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏ, ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਇਹ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।੪।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥੫॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਐਕੁਰ ਚਾਹੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦਿਲ-ਕੰਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਪਦਾਰਥੁ = ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ। ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ = ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ। ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ = ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ। ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ। ਰਿਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਿਚ। ਪਰਗਾਸੁ = ਚਾਨਣ। ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਆ = ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਤਾਪੁ = ਤਾਕਤ। ਮਉਲਿਆ = ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ।੫।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਧਰਤੀ ਖਿੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।੫।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸੰਤੋਖ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ੍ਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ-ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਤੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੀਊਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਸਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਧਾਰਦੀ, ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ, ਉਹ ਸੜ ਬਲ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ = ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਹਿ = ਦਿਨ। ਨਿਸਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਭਾਉ = ਪ੍ਰੇਮ। ਰਸਨਾ = ਜੀਭ (ਨਾਲ)। ਰਵੈ = ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸੁਆਉ = ਸੁਆਰਥ, ਮਨੋਰਥ। ਕਰਨੀ = ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਕਰਨੀਂ। ਜੀਅੜਾ = (ਨਿਭਾਗੀ) ਜਿੰਦ। ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ = ਜਲਿ ਜਾਇ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੬।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਸੁਆਦ (ਇਹ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਅਟੱਲ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ) ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਝਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਨਿਭਾਗੀ) ਜਿੰਦ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।੬।
ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ ਓਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਭਾਈ ਗੂੜਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਾਉ ॥੭॥
ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂਡੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਗੁਣ-ਵਿਹੂਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ-ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਅਤੇ ਬੇਪਨਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਨਾਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਗਾਧ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਪੁਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਭਧਾ।
ਸਾਹਿਬੈ = ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਚ। ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਤਿਸ ਕੈ = ਉਸ ਤੋਂ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸੁ' ਦਾ ੁ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕੈ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}। ਬਲਿ = ਸਦਕੇ। ਜਾਉ = ਜਾਉਂ, ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦੇਇ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਬਾਹੇ = ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਗੂੜਾ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਭੇਟੀਐ = ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਰਮਾਉ = ਕਿਸਮਤ।੭।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ-ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੭।
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਭਾਈ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਗੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਮਰਦੇ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੮॥
ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਤੇ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਹਰੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ, ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਝੂਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
ਨ ਜੀਵੀਐ = ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀ ਸਕੀਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਲਾ = ਤਾਕਤਾਂ। ਸਾਸਿ = (ਹਰੇਕ) ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ। ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ = ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ। ਪੇਖਉ = ਪੇਖਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹਜੂਰਿ = ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ। ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ। ਮਰਦੇ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਹਨ। ਝੂਰਿ = ਚਿੰਤਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ।੮।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਇਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਦਿੱਸਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੮।
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੯॥੧॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਦਇਆ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਅਖੀਰ ਤਾਈਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੱਖ ਪੂਰੇਗਾ। ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਸ਼ਾਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜੋ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਚਲਿ = ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ, ਲੜ ਨਾਲ। ਭਉਜਲੁ = ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ। ਕਰਿ = ਕਰ ਕੇ। ਨਦਰਿ = ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ। ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ = ਤੱਕਿਆ। ਕੀਤੋਨੁ = ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੰਗੁ = ਪੱਖ। ਅਪਾਰੁ = ਬੇਅੰਤ। ਸੀਤਲੁ = ਠੰਢਾ। ਅਧਾਰੁ = ਆਸਰਾ। ਕਿਲਬਿਖ = ਪਾਪ। ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰੁ = ਕੱਟ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਜਿ = ਜੇਹੜਾ।੯।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਦੁੱਖ-ਰੂਪ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਭੂ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ (ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ), ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਵੋ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।੯।੧।
